Day 1: The Business of Sustainability -- Being an Effective Leader of Sustainability for Your Company

Sustainability is in the mainstream of business – and will continue to be. Sustainability is not a separate series of activities; it needs to be infused into the overall business strategy and continuum in order to see results. In this Boot Camp we will educate on the following areas:

Setting the Strategy /Plan (For those with a plan – how to quarterly, annually - reset the plan)

Elements of the plan:

  • Assessment of needs

    • Functional areas affected
    • Impact – short/long-term
    • ROI

The Structure/ the Process

  • Building and managing an effective sustainability plan for the company

  • How to develop a systematic process on where to start as well as how to prioritize sustainability initiatives to gain the best return on investment and how to integrate it into your overall business strategy. The most effective and efficient ways to build, manage, maintain, measure and benchmark (ongoing) sustainability strategies and activities.
  • How to develop:
    • KPIs
    • Initiatives – project management
    • Benchmarking - continuous benchmarking to understand where you are and where you need to be and where you want to go.

Innovate

  • How to leverage best practices surrounding sustainable business practices and create opportunities with products, services and stakeholders
  • Develop checklists of ways in which you could employ innovation to increase effectiveness and efficiencies while saving money.
